Maike is a health behaviour change scientist with more than 10 years’ experience in research and practice. She holds a Masters Degree in Psychology and a PhD in Public Health. Prior to joining the Centre for Online Health, Maike was responsible for the evidence-based development, implementation and evaluation of health behaviour interventions at UQ’s Cancer Prevention Research Centre as well as the Centre for Research in Geriatric Medicine. During her PhD, Maike identified effective strategies to reduce sitting time in the office workplace. Maike has been able to translate her research into practice in her role as workplace health consultant for UQ’s Healthy Lifestyle Consultancy Service. And, she has been contributing to UQ’s teaching program as regular tutor and guest lecturer since 2012. Her interventions allow Maike to apply her passion for health coaching, using her training in Neurolinguistic Programming as well as Acceptance Commitment Training.
