Dr Clare Burns is an advanced speech pathologist at the Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospital. She has over 16 years clinical experience working in metropolitan and regional facilities within Queensland and in the UK. She conducts clinical research in adult speech pathology and telepractice services and is in involved in developing and implementing telepractice service models supporting swallowing and communication intervention for patients with head and neck cancer and clinical swallow assessment services. She recently completed her PhD examining the application of telepractice in the assessment and management of speech, voice and swallowing disorders for patients with head and neck cancer. Clare is a co-author of the position statement on Telepractice for Speech Pathology Australia, and a member of the Allied Health Working Party on the Clinical Oncology Society of Australia (COSA) Teleoncology Guidelines.
